More boring info: Ed Gein’s house must have reeked, but his deceased mother’s bedroom was partitoned off from the rest of the house. He kept her room in immaculate condition, just as Norman Bates did with his mother in ” Psycho. Thus you can see, “Psycho” was very loosely based on Gein too, with Norman Bates’ preservation of his mom’s corpse and bedroom.
Gein’s mom was a Christian who taught him that all women were evil. she must have rolled in her grave…surprising he didn’t dig HER up.

He actually only killed one woman. He wasn’t a cannibal, but he had a childlike awe and curiosity about women, as he was unable interact them socially, because of his emotional retardation. He usually went to graveyards at night, and dug up women’s corpses. He would make furniture and clothes out of their skin and bones. His old house was full of chairs made of bones and skin, jackets made of vaginas, jars full of ovaries etc.
